Bad Taste and Royal Weddings / Mal gusto y bodas reales

X-Q-se my horrible english, but I need to tell this to the entire world, including non-spanish people.

Don't know if you've heard of wedding of His Royal Highness Prince of Asturias, Spanish Kingdom Heir. It's the year notice in Spain; but I concede I din't heard about Prince of Denmark's wedding until it took place.

To commemorate this day, Madrid has been decorated with some eccentric, bizarre and definitely HORRIBLE lights, banners, and flowers.

Let's start with flowers. Plaza de Murillo, near Prado Museum, has removed its usual decoration based on tulips or pansies, replacing them with the typical spanish geranium plants. Gerania are nice, but they STINK (thanks heaven, there are some Magnolia trees in the same place, and they mask the smell) and, worst of all, there is a plague infecting Gerania since last year. Other good bad taste example is the so-called "Bosque de los Ausentes" ("Wood of the Missing"): three days before the wedding, it seems it will have some olive trees and some cypresses tortured by their very, very small containers.

Let's continue with banners. Madrid Mayor has covered every building under construction, and many other "non grata" buildings, like gas stations, with large banners representing the skies. I think this kind of concealment makes these buildings even more visible.

Let's finish with lights. Last friday, when I went home from dinning, I noticed some horrible blue (*) lights on Prado Museum walls. When I went out of home on saturday, I saw the HORRIBLE spotlights and electric generators, and the weird maze of wires connecting everything, and I wondered why did our major pay high-power compsumption lights to decorate an afternoon (or morning) wedding. Did he consider every guest will notice the wires when passing by El Prado?
(*) But that's not all about lights. I've seen them in the paper. They seemed as blue and green to me, an ugly combination, to me. But newspaper says they're pink(!) and golden(!) lights. Well, I give thanks to God for making me color-blind.
